Lost

For the last couple of years, I have been on a quest for understanding, meaning, identity, and a sense of place. I long to find not only purpose, but a permanence to who I am and how I fit into the world. In the search, I always seem to find that I feel more lost when I begin seeking it out than when I started. As I burn these photographs onto paper, the physical act represents my yearning for the permanence I desire, and yet still holds a foggy image as a reminder that I have not reached it. During the process of making these photographs, I am grappling with my own discomfort in knowing I may never get to that point and just may be in a lifelong journey of transience.
