Letters to You

When the pandemic hit, I found that I was spending much of my time online and on social media because it was the easiest way of communicating with the people that I no longer was in close proximity to. Watching the news and living life behind a screen became discouraging, and in order to maintain healthy relationships with the people I am closest to, I began writing letters. This was a way for me to cope with the loss of immediate and close interactions with the people I love as well as an intentional way of communicating with them. These cyanotypes were made for the purpose, similar to what it was initially intended for, in this case to duplicate the hand written letters I received. The letters are then layered over portraits of the writers, illustrating the feelings they had during this time.
